  • Remember people who benefited from it
  • Forget people who experienced problems

The person may not be consciously trying to deceive anyone. Their mind naturally favors information that supports an existing belief.

A cognitive bias can cause someone to commit a logical fallacy.

For example, in-group bias may cause someone to trust members of their own political party. They might then argue:

My party’s candidate is a good person because everyone in my party supports him.
